INSOCOAT Bearings
Electric motors, generators, and related equipment are at risk when electric current passes through their bearings. This condition can damage the contact surfaces of the rolling elements and raceways in the bearings (electrical erosion) and can rapidly degrade the grease. An additional risk in electric motors and generators comes from high-frequency currents caused by natural leakage capacitance. The risk of damage increases when a frequency converter is used in practice.
INSOCOAT bearings are designed to prevent electric current from passing through the bearing. The outer surfaces of the inner or outer rings are coated with an insulating aluminum oxide layer using a sophisticated plasma spraying process for an exceptionally high-quality finish. These solutions are very cost-effective compared to other insulation methods.
