Adapter sleeves are the most commonly used components for mounting tapered bore bearings onto cylindrical housings, as they can be used on both straight and stepped shafts.
They are easy to install and do not require additional space on the shaft. When used on straight shafts, the bearing can be positioned at any location on the shaft. When used with an L-shaped spacer on stepped shafts, the bearing can be accurately positioned axially, facilitating the installation and removal of the bearing.
